I am planning my conference schedule for the year and am looking forward to speaking at a couple of events. Public speaking is something that I’ve always enjoyed — but I’ve never really presented to a group larger than 20 or so.
Tomorrow I’m giving two decent size presentations: one at Stanford and another for a state library association, and both should have around 40-50 people. I’m just putting the final touches on my slides and I’m really looking forward to these talks.

I wasn’t into the last few albums from the Chili Peppers, but I saw their live set in Milan on tv tonight and their performance was great. I searched for it online and AOL has the live concert from Lisbon but with 30 second ads between each song. I was impressed with Me and My Friends, Give it Away and Right on Time. I also found some personal videos from the Milan show on YouTube.

I just bought tickets to see Bright Eyes at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. The transaction went through APE.com. I wanted to also buy tickets for Arcade Fire, but they are only for sale through Ticketmaster.com. Unfortunately Ticketmaster.com has been unavailable for the last 10 minutes. I wonder how much business they miss when the site is down that long?

And so are my graphs!
Here is a chart of my swimming year-to-date:
and a chart of my biking (less impressive):

I joined WeEndure a couple months ago and I’ve been please for the most part. Today, however, the individual user pages have been broken for over 12 hours, showing an error msg that says: “Application error (Rails)”.
I wouldn’t mind if they were going through upgrades, but there has been no communication from from them, on either their blog or forums. The most frustrating part is that it’s supposed to be a social network for tracking fitness, but they disabled people from registering in the forum, they moderate blog comments, and since user pages are broken, you can’t contact other users. So, basically, the site is unusable and people can’t communicate through it.
Are they going to stop working on it and shut it down? I hope not, but given that it’s been broken all day without a peep from them, it seems like a possibility…

Today there was a suicide bombing in
that killed
people and
American(s).
It’s sad that this is what I hear almost every time I listen to the news.
